DV1174 - Error The path "C:\fakepath\filename.ext"

The information in this article applies to:

• DOVICO Timesheet
• Internet Explorer 8

Symptoms:

When adding a Project using the Microsoft Project Link in DOVICO Timesheet using Internet Explore 8.  You receive the following error.

The path "C:\fakepath\Dovico.mpp" to the " "Project does not exist.  Use the Change Link functionality to point the Project to it's new path.

Cause:

Internet Explorer 8  has security zones for Internet, Local Intranet, Trusted Sites.  This problem occurs when the setting "Include local directory path when uploading files to a server" is Disabled

Resolution:

1. In Internet Explorer go to Tools, Internet Options.
2. Select the Security tab.
3. Select the zone; Internet or Local Intranet.
4. Click the Custom level button.
5. Scroll down the settings and enable "Include local directory path when uploading files to a server".
6. Click the OK button.
7. Click Yes when prompted "Are you sure you want to change the settings for this zone?".
8. Close Internet Explorer.
9. Relaunch DOVICO Timesheet in Internet Explorer.

Note:  The Trusted Sites zone has the setting "Include local directory path when uploading files to a server" Enabled by default. You can simply add the DOVICO Timesheet application to the Trusted Sites list to resolve the issue.
