Symptoms:
When installing the software, the installation attempts to upgrade system components such as MDAC, DCOM, and Windows Common Controls. Setup will reboot after the upgrade to one of these components is complete. Following the reboot, the InstallShield tries to install the same components and continues in a loop.
Cause:
This behavior is caused when a user does not have install privileges on an NT/2000/XP/2003 computer.
Resolution:
To work around this behavior, use one of the following methods:
-
Have an Administrator for the network install the software.
-
Have an Administrator give you install access for the computer.
-
Try downloading the MDAC components from Microsoft’s site. (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-ca/data/aa937730.aspx). You will want to download the latest MDAC RTM (Release to Manufacturing).
More information:
This behavior occurs because DOVICO Timesheet runs Microsoft standard installations to upgrade system components in the background of the install. If the logged on user does not have access to portions of the registry, the installation may not be successful.
